Many people think that working a business from home is much easier than working from an office or working for someone else. On social media posts you see scenes of an orderly home with well-behaved children and pets, and a supporting partner who is all in on the crafting business. The woman crafter is smiling and holding up one of her new products, giving the picture of a well-balanced home and business life.

But take a harder look at that picture. Life happens. It’s messy and not orderly at all. Kids and pets aren’t always so cooperative. Husbands or partners are not always happy that your attention is going in another direction. You get behind due to a myriad of issues and everything seems to be piling up and you’re behind. You have to scramble to get caught up, find out what you can whip up for dinner, make sure to get to the post office before it closes, and pick up the kids from school while talking to your newest client and assuring them their order was on its way.

Balance is something that you think about but never seem to be able to achieve. We tend to think that unless we’re perfect, we can’t have balance in our life. Drop the perfection and seek balance. Understand that stuff will happen, you will have to shift many gears to get through the day and we can’t always plan the way we want to. Balance yourself, not the situation. Give yourself room to take a breath and put flex your day. Prioritize and drop the guilt. Everything will get done and you  will live to craft the next day!
